Is swimming mandatory for a Cabin Crew?
The Director General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) Norms are as follows :
- The DGCA has clearly defined norms for all commercial Airlines in India, according to which, Airlines who possess (AOC) (Air operator's Certificate) and OL (Operator’s License) have the authority to teach Safety regulations
- Airlines have to train all its Cabin Crew members on a detailed Safety module and certify each one of them before allowing them to fly – this Training includes Safety on board, Water, land and other Emergency Procedures
- DGCA also does not stipulate Swimming as a mandate – knowledge and ability to operate the life saving devices are mandates and only within the purview of certified commercial Airlines
Is knowing a Foreign Language a must if I wish to join a Foreign Airline?
NO !!!
In fact, All Foreign Airlines that are recruit crew from India require the candidate to be fluent in English, Hindi and knowledge of one other Indian regional language is preferred.
